Bollard Buying Guide: Determining the Right Type of Bollard for You

Determining the removable bollard that is right for you depends on a number of factors. First, determine if the bollard needs to lock. Usually this is a simple decision. If the bollards are going to be located inside a secure facility and are there for accidental vehicle incursions, a locking removable bollard is likely not required. However, in many instances, removable bollards will need to lock.

Once the locking question has been answered it becomes a question of the purpose of the bollard, the functionality of the bollard, the look of the bollard and preferences of the end user. The purpose of the bollard will largely determine the size of the bollard. If there is a real concern of a vehicle incursion, a larger bollard may be chosen. This may be 4.5” or 6.625” bollard diameter. If there is less of a concern the end user may go with a 3.5” bollard. Functionality and the look of the removable security bollard go hand in hand. If the end user is looking for something clean and aesthetically pleasing they may prefer the completely concealed locking system of the Helix Lock Series. If it is a matter of pure functionality they may prefer the Removable Top Lock Series. Whatever the preference of the end user, TrafficGuard® provides a wide selection of locking removable bollards to choose from.
