Crash Rating
ASTM F3016 is a crash test standard that determines a protective device, such as bollards, ability to stop a 5,000 lb. vehicle at 10, 20 or 30 MPH. TrafficGuard® Core in protection systems have been tested to ASTM F3016 at speeds of 10 and 20 MPH at multiple accredited testing agencies. Testing is conducted using a ‘bogey’, or reusable test vehicle. The success of a test is determined by a P1 or P2 rating. P1 is a penetration into the protected zone of 12” or less. P2 is penetration of 4’ or less. Penetration of more than 4’ results in a failure. End users should always request a testing summary of the product they are purchasing from an accredited testing agency to ensure that the bollard will stop a vehicle.
Numerous factors go into selecting a removable bollards rating. In many instances a P1 rating may be required where a vehicle must be stopped quickly with little penetration. This is often the case where pedestrians will be frequently present. A P2 rating is often satisfactory for applications where a vehicle just needs to be stopped from going fully into a protected zone, a store front being a good example.
Available Finishes
TrafficGuard® Core In protection systems are offered in 3 different finishes; galvanized (intended to be used with a bollard cover of the customers choosing), 304 stainless steel with a #4 brushed finish, or carbon steel powder coated after fabrication. A galvanized bollard gives the customer flexibility in the look they would like to have with a cover. The Core In protection system was tested with a cover. All finishes are available in both removable and fixed options.

TrafficGuard® crash rated bollards are offered in both fixed and removable in both 10 MPH and 20 MPH. The Core-In is sold as a system. In the fixed model the system comes with the bollard post, stress bracket and rebar cage. The removable system comes with the removable bollard post, ground sleeve, stress bracket and pipe stand. All below ground components are hot-dipped zinc galvanized.
Installation
TrafficGuard® Core In protection systems can be quickly installed in both preexisting concrete and preexisting asphalt surrounds. Bollards can be rapidly deployed in store front applications where protection is needed quickly with minimal disruption to the existing business. Removable bollards systems can be quickly installed in streetscape applications where protection is needed for festivals, markets and other outdoor events. TrafficGuard® crash tested the Core-in line to be minimally invasive and easy to install. The result is over-night store front and streetscape protection from ever increasing vehicle incursions.
